Home-Made Christmas Décor —> Upcycle and Reuse Packaging —> Creating Family Memories
- Create Christmas memories
- Reuse packaging that would otherwise be wasted
- Fun activity for the school holidays!
- Home-made Christmas decorations to cherish forever
How to:

You’ll need:
- 2 squares of paper the same size (we’re using 18cmx18cm)
- Scissors
- Eco-friendly tape or glue
- Twine, string, wool etc to make a hanging loop
Note: Your paper can be all kinds of fun stuff! We’re reusing our bread bags to upcycle these stars but if you have leftover wrapping paper, wallpaper or even colouring sheets then use those!
Step 1
Ok so you’re ready for some eco-friendly festive fun? Start by cutting 2 squares of paper of equal size (we did 18cm x 18cm). Fold both square in half and press along the fold to create a line. Repeat this going opposite way so you have cross lines pressed in to each piece. Now fold corner to corner both ways to create diagonal fold lines too.

Step 2
Next, make 4 half way cuts from the middle of each side of the square (following the line you created from folding in half). Fold in each corner from these cuts to create your star points then fold one half over the other and use some eco tape/glue to stick it together.
Repeat with the other square!

Step 3
Now you halve 2 halves it’s time to stick some string inside one of them to create a hanging loop. All that’s left is to glue or stick the 2 stars together, pressing gently so the don’t get damaged.

Make them fun!
You can even use old bits of wrapping paper and go to town with mix and match patterners and sizes.
We cut 2 18cm squares from our paper bread bags but you can make them any size you like! Some small stars would be lovely as table décor!
Stick on any other decorations you like – let your imagination run free!
It’s an all round sustainable thumbs up from us!
